 Working with Huma Bird Poetry Group, Creative Communities has now published 'Voices from the Middle East'
The work encompasses Iranian, Turkish and Urdu poetry traditions.

The Weekender's Project has now successfully created a beautiful book - Saints & Sinners - that reflects and celebrates the past; Sunday Best, tar soap, chicken in the basket, platform shoes, the Blitz, tin baths, mini-skirts, Sunday school, shillings, Finsbury Park Empire.

| 20 YEARS LATER: LIFE STORIES |

Following the success of the Latin American Echoes Project, 20 Years Later: Life Stories continued to the celebrate the lives, journeys and experiences of members of the Latin American Elderly Project. Participants designed a beautiful book and dvd which was unveiled at Islington Town Hall in August 2008.

| BOLIVIAN RAYMI |

Working with BCC the Bolivian Raymi celebrated all things Bolivian! The festival took place over a week in July and included multimedia training, an exhibition of Bolivian folkloric photography, film and documentary screenings, craft workshops, dance, performance, music, food and poetry readings

National Statistics is an ongoing project that works with individuals across all Creative Communities workshops. The aim of the project is to challenge representations of national identity by providing a personal interpretations of flags and summarising the essence of one’s ‘homeland’ through creative writing and graphic design.

Working in partnership with Porshi UK and Manor Gardens Community Kitchens, Bengal Flavours is a celebration of food and memory. Taking traditional recipes as a starting point this project explores cultural heritage, collective memory, personal anecdote, health and nutrition and most importantly flavour.

Local mothers embrace digital video and dvd authoring technology as tools for empowerment to express the validity of SureStart Holloway provision in the face of cutbacks and closure.

| LATIN AMERICAN ECHOES |

Images, poetry, song, anecdotes and recollections spanning continents and generations. Creative Communities is currently working with the Latin American Elderly Project (through workshops and documentation sessions) to produce a richly revealing booklet and accompanying CD that illustrates the lives and journeys of particpants from Colombia, Venezuela, Peru, Ecuador and Chile.

| BIZ KIMZ - WHO AM I? |

Working with the Turkish Education Group this project explored individual cultural identity. Taking George Ella Lyon’s poem ‘Where I Am From’ as a starting point, participants express facets of their background and experience.

A six week project that encouraged the documention of the diverse visual layers that exist within the local community. Participants journeyed into Holloway and took a minimum of thirty pictures in a maximum of thirty minutes. This is the community through their eyes.
